This leading global provider of information and services solutions to professionals in the legal, risk management, corporate, government and academic markets is seeking an experienced Publishing Manager to lead a commissioning team in developing their portfolio of books and new subscription services for legal practitioners. These publications will be new editions of core texts, and brand new texts and subscription products in emerging areas.
You will be responsible for:
- The publishing strategy of the new product program in Australia
- Leading a commissioning team
- Driving a market understanding of the current legal practitioner market in Australia
- Partnering with new and existing authors to ensure timely and topical content
- Close collaboration with the core publishing and production teams to optimize workflow and publishing opportunities
- Close collaboration with the sales and marketing teams to maximize revenue potentials
- Financial accountability of the portfolio.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and thorough understanding of the publishing process. They will also have in depth knowledge of legal practice and be able to monitor the latest legal developments.
Commercial aptitude and customer focus essential.
The following skills are desirable:
- a professional legal qualification and practice experience
- experience in capturing and quantifying market opportunities
- experience in commissioning and developing legal content
- sound working knowledge of publishing workflow from idea conception through to receipt by customer
